I think they're both good films, kind of hard to compare because they're so different. Either way you have to be already invested in the subjects to really get the full effect from the film. I'd like to see both movies again, I've only ever seen each one one time. The cool thing about Gonzo is that I feel someone unfamiliar with Thompson could potentially become a fan of his after seeing the documentary and maybe go out and read his books, I don't get the feeling that I'm Not There would have that affect on people in regards to getting into Dylan's music. I'm Not There was for such a specific audience that it might have lost something for a casuaul/non-fan that it could have possessed if it was a little more general. I guess doc's like No Direction Home would have more of an affect like Gonzo's did, but then again, thats the point of a documentary, which I'm Not There never attempted to be. Either way, good movies if you're interested in either artists. Definitely would like to see both again.
