Wonder why highways jam up seemingly for no reason?

Interesting chart that shows why there will sometimes be a mini-traffic jam on the highway with no discernible reason in sight. I've wondered about this before and have had conversations on this with some of you. Cool thing to check out if your bored and sitting in a computer lab before class, case and point, me.

damn i never want to drive to Cleveland if their highways are like that lol thats very interesting though someone told me that traffic is sometimes caused by people not letting other cars into their lanes while merging causing that funnel effect in the diagram and if people would just let other cars merge without being like "fuck you buddy, im gonna blast past you right now and leave you for the guy behind me to deal with......motha fucka" well those are some of the things that i say when i fall victim to fucking people over on the highway (mainly cuz im trying to get home as fast as i can to eat some dinner lol) but, the highway would drive a lot smoother without assholes like me

i have noticed that the new exit 20 has way less traffic than the older one. I hated merging from that exit on pleasant valley parkway (right before Fed.Hill )that puts you on a giant turn around then another merge then finally a merge through 3 lanes of fucking intense traffic- that was the worst- but now you just stay in your lane and it brings you up on to the new exit and your golden.
that might not have made sense ...fuck it
